OQO event at OQO Bar in Islington, London
OQO asked us not to announce anything officially until Wednesday morning but without giving anything away...I'd like to draw your attention to these units now available for pre-order from Expansys.com HSDPA OQO
The photo attached is me on the left (with a Sony UX1XN in my hand), Dennis Moore in the centre (with his 'special' OQO E2) and my colleague Matt Andrews on the right (with the Raon Everun which I am presently reviewing).
I probably shouldn't have taken two competitive devices with me but Dennis was interested and willing to compare and contrast so it worked out well. There is no getting away from the elegance, functionality and quality of the e2. Its just a superb piece of kit and in many ways its streets ahead of the competition.
The Everun attracted a lot of attention also and was turned on for at least 4 hours today with HSDPA turned on and it only gave up on the train on the way home. Apart from the keyboard, which I hate, the Everun is superb. Without being too specific again...in a head to head 'speed test' it actually beat Dennis Moore on his 'special' OQO with nearly twice the speed in the same location.
I've probably said too much already so here endeth this entry!

Looks like OQO have now made their press release. No information beyond the HSDPA support. Is there anything else to tell us about this? Thanks!
Still deviceless after the UX turned out faulty and had to be retunred. (Can't part with £700 now I know it has sold for £600). So still deciding on full PC or Tablet with VNC/remote desktop. Tending towards tablet...
Look forward to your review and comparisons.
Also, why can't they just stick 2GB ram in these things. Make my decisions alot easier. I could handle a "small" hit on battery. Probably make it up with less hard disk thrashing anyway.

Hi mate,
It was good to meet you and Matt at the OQO Bar on Monday night. I didn't get a chance to thank you for letting me play with the Everun and your Sony UX. Its hard to know whether you'll like a device without first having it in your hands and being able to play with it!
I look forward to reading your review on the Everun and whether you've grown to tolerate the keyboard.
Hmmm... I reckon I took that photo of the three of you!
Hi Kiat,
Thanks for the note. It was good to meet you last week. No problem with you playing with my toys! It makes a change to doing my sales pitch/ review for each device on my disinterested girlfriend!
I will be writing a lot more for UMPCPortal.com in future. I have actually handed in my notice of resignation at work so as of January 8th I'll be blogging a lot more!!
I will be starting off by picking up on all of the news coming out of CES in January.
Keep an eye on UMPCPortal.com!
Simon
